Privacy Policy
What MomBooks does with your data — in plain, balanced terms.
01 Local-First Storage
Your ledger data — transactions, postings, accounts, budgets, and notes — is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and, for secrets, the device Keychain. MomBooks does not operate a backend server, and no ledger content is transmitted to the developer or to any analytics or advertising service, third-party or otherwise.
If you import bank statements or export a PTA-format ledger file, those files stay wherever you choose to save them — MomBooks does not upload them anywhere on your behalf.
02 iCloud Sync (optional)
If you turn on iCloud sync, your ledger is synchronized between your own devices through Apple's CloudKit, inside your personal iCloud account. That data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple's infrastructure and is not accessible to the developer of MomBooks. Turning sync off at any time stops this exchange.
03 On-Device Diagnostics
MomBooks uses Apple's MetricKit and OSSignpost frameworks to collect on-device performance diagnostics — crash reports, hang rates, and memory usage. This diagnostic data never includes ledger content, account names, payees, or notes, and it is not sent to the developer or any third party.
04 Biometric & PIN Security
Face ID, Touch ID, Optic ID, and PIN data are managed entirely by Apple's Keychain and LocalAuthentication frameworks on your device. MomBooks never receives, stores, or transmits your biometric data — only a pass or fail result from the system.
If you store Protected Health Information (PHI) in medical billing entries, see the Terms of Service — MomBooks is not a certified HIPAA repository or EHR system, and you remain responsible for regulatory compliance around that data.
05 In-App Purchases
MomBooks Pro subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are processed entirely by Apple's App Store and StoreKit. MomBooks does not collect, see, or store your payment card details — Apple handles billing directly with your Apple ID.
06 No Third-Party Tracking
MomBooks does not integrate advertising or analytics SDKs from other companies, does not use tracking pixels, and does not track you across other apps or websites. There is no advertising identifier use in this app.
07 Your Rights & Choices
Because your ledger lives on your device (and, optionally, your own iCloud account), you already hold the access, export, and deletion controls that privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA are designed to guarantee: open the app to see your data, use Export to copy it out in plain-text PTA format, or delete the app to remove it. MomBooks has no copy to hand over or erase on its end, because none is ever collected.
08 Children's Privacy
MomBooks is a bookkeeping tool intended for general audiences managing personal or household finances, not directed to children under 13. Since MomBooks collects no data from any user, it collects none from children either.
09 Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the Effective Date and Version number at the top of this page will be updated to match the in-app copy under Settings → Legal & Disclaimers. Material changes will be noted there before they take effect.
